Local Attractions
Surrounded by countryside, we are within 8 mins drive of Wadebridge, where you can hire cyles to access the Camel Trail. The South West Coastal Path threads it way along the coast nearby and Bodmin Moor with its wild tors and spectacular walking is a 20 minute drive.
There are stunning coastal golf courses within easy reach, at Rock, Trevose and Perranporth to inland courses, one even closer right here in St Kew Highway and others at Rosearrow, Bowood, Lanhydrock and Launceston.
There is a Large Tesco's just 5 miles from the house in Wadebridge (deliveries available). Wadebridge is a gorgeous small town on the river Camel with many interesting shops to whet your appetite.
If you would like a leisurely day looking around houses or gardens open to the public, there are many to choose from. My favourite is Pencarrow, home to the Molesworth family, who are still resident there and a guided tour makes the family's history come alive with a collection of dolls and a supurb dolls house. This is a short 10 min drive. The lost Gardens of Heligan at St Austell is also worth a visit. Landhydrock at Bodmin has a stunning collection of rhododendrons, camellias and magnolias and offers fine colours right through into autumn. Tintagel Castle, is a must to visit, a medieval castle on the edge of a crumbling precipice, so you will need comfortable walking shoes: If you have never been to see the Eden Project, then this is the perfect time for a visit.
Good restaurants and pubs are in plentiful supply. The Red Lion Pub around the corner has delicious food with no need to get in the car. The St Kew Inn with a huge garden to eat in, is a mile away and an easy walk. The Maltsters Arms in Chapel Amble, the next door village does a brilliant Sunday lunch carvery, where you can eat as much as you like and go back for more!
There are several wonderful Restaurants in Port Isaac, The Harbour, The Mote, The Edge. If you are happy to cook at home, then you can choose your fresh fish/lobster/crab from "Fresh From the Sea" near the Edge or down in the Harbour from the slipway.
